2015/2016 Cook Islands Government Tertiary Study & Training Awards

“Expressions of interest” are sought for the following two awards:
•    Cook Islands Government Scholarship Awards
•    Overseas Student Assistance Fund

1.    2015/2016 Cook Islands Government Scholarship
Cook Islanders who are pursuing tertiary studies at a New Zealand Institution can now apply for the award.  (Note these awards are partially funded.)
To be eligible for an award, applicants must meet the following criteria:
1.1     Must be a Cook Islander, residing permanently in the Cook Islands or have resided permanently in the Cook Islands prior to undertaking studies at an approved NZ tertiary institute;

1.2    Successfully completed an equivalent minimum of one full academic year of studies at an approved tertiary institute, with a minimum “B” grade average;

1.3    Has a maximum of 2 years to complete his/her course or programme (full time).

2.    2015 Overseas Student Assistance Fund

Cook Islanders pursuing tertiary studies privately overseas may now apply for assistance with tuition fees on a reimbursement basis.  This is granted on a portion of the tuition fees for those subjects or papers passed during the 2015 calendar year.

Applicants will need to provide their results and original evidence of payment of tuition fees such as tertiary institute receipts (showing institute logo), enrolment records etc.  Students who have held scholarships this year are not eligible for this scheme.
Applicants must be a Cook Islander who have resided permanently in the Cook Islands prior to undertaking studies at an approved NZ tertiary institute.
The grant is determined by the number of applications received and availability of funds.
